This predominantly analogue project is an opportunity for me to pay tribute once again to Arles and its school.
In 2005, when I sat the entrance interview for the École Nationale de la Photographie, the jury felt that my work was too illustrative and suggested that I apply to the Gobelins school, which I joined in Paris that same year.
Today, I present my photographic research and thoughts through images, far removed from both illustration and the fashion photography that had long fascinated me.
The passage of time, emptiness, absence and doubt punctuate my images, with melancholy as a persistent undercurrent.
Within today’s constant flow of digital images, the photographic object has acquired a renewed strength and inspires a new kind of desire.
To me, it increasingly takes on a material dimension and a sculptural quality, so the print deserves to exist more than ever.
